Øksnehallen contributes to much more
Framing the past – Shaping the future
When your company chooses Øksnehallen for meetings, conferences, or events, you become an active participant in DGI Byen’s mission: to strengthen the wellbeing, health, and sense of community for vulnerable Copenhageners.
Every event creates a surplus, which goes directly to new movement and wellbeing initiatives for children, young people, and marginalized citizens in Copenhagen. In other words: when you fill Øksnehallen with life, you also set the city in motion – physically, mentally, and socially.
Below you can see a selection of DGI Byen’s many events and activities, which over the years have focused on creating meaning, insight, and togetherness around a number of important themes.

Sygt Stærke Drømme – DGI Byen supports young voices
The surplus from activities in Øksnehallen helps make meaningful initiatives possible throughout DGI Byen
– for example, Sygt Stærke Drømme
Sygt Stærke Drømme portrays 12 young people living with serious or chronic physical illness from SygtStærk, who share their dreams for the future in words, images, and audio. Dreams know no boundaries—the system, unfortunately, sometimes does. We can and must do better!
That’s why we’re proud to have contributed so Sygt Stærke Drømme could be exhibited here at DGI Byen, where together with SygtStærk we also marked the opening with an emotional and powerful vernissage. An evening full of voices, courage, and hope—in a place made for community, movement, and new possibilities.
OMBOLD tournamentsFootball for people who are homeless and vulnerable
OMBOLD is a football and sports community for adults (18+) in vulnerable situations. At DGI Byen and OMBOLD, we share a common vision: to create communities that strengthen both body and mind. That’s why we’re happy to host this year's OMBOLD Christmas Tournament and a summer tournament in 2024—two days where football, community, and togetherness go hand in hand.

A healthy community life with support from DGI Byen
DGI Byen exists to strengthen communities, movement, and wellbeing. That's why part of the surplus from activities in Øksnehallen is reinvested to improve facilities for almost 65 of Copenhagen Municipality's institutions and associations that use DGI Byen as their home base.

Experiences with purpose
DGI Byen provides the framework for a wide range of cultural and health-focused events—both our own and those created by passionate individuals and external partners.
When Øksnehallen buzzes with life, it’s not just an experience for those who attend—it also creates a financial surplus that we invest back into the venue. This makes it possible to keep prices down, open the doors to more people, and ensure great facilities for the city’s benefit.
