Øksnehallen contributes to so much more
Settings of the past – purposes for the future
When your company chooses Øksnehallen for meetings, conferences, or events, you become an active participant in DGI Byen’s mission: to promote the well-being, health, and sense of community of vulnerable Copenhageners.
Each event generates surplus funds that go directly to new activity and well-being initiatives for children, young people, and vulnerable residents of Copenhagen. In other words: when you fill Øksnehallen with life, you also set the city in motion – physically, mentally, and socially.
Below you can see a selection of DGI Byen’s many events and activities that have, over the years, focused on creating meaning, insight, and togetherness on a range of important themes.

Sygt Stærke Drømme – DGI Byen supports young voices
The surplus from activities in Øksnehallen helps make meaningful initiatives possible throughout DGI Byen
– for example, Sygt Stærke Drømme
Sygt Stærke Drømme portrays 12 young people with severe or chronic physical illness from SygtStærk, who share their dreams for the future in words, images, and sound. Dreams know no boundaries – unfortunately, sometimes the system does. We can and must do better!
That’s why we’re pleased to have contributed to making Sygt Stærke Drømme possible to exhibit here at DGI Byen, where together with SygtStærk we also marked the opening with a moving and powerful vernissage. An evening filled with voices, courage, and hope – right in the heart of a house all about community, movement, and opportunity.
OMBOLD tournamentsFootball for homeless and vulnerable people
OMBOLD is a football and sports community for adults (18+) in vulnerable situations. At DGI Byen and OMBOLD, we share a common vision: to create communities that strengthen both body and mind. That’s why we’re proud to host this year’s OMBOLD Christmas Tournament and a summer tournament in 2024 – two days when football, community, and togetherness go hand in hand.

A healthy community life with support from DGI Byen
DGI Byen exists to strengthen communities, movement, and well-being. That’s why part of the surplus from activities in Øksnehallen is reinvested to improve facilities for nearly 65 of Copenhagen Municipality's institutions and associations that use DGI Byen as their home ground.

Experiences with purpose
DGI Byen provides the setting for a wide range of cultural and health-oriented events – both our own and those created by dedicated organizers and external partners.
When Øksnehallen is buzzing with life, it’s not just an experience for those who attend – it also creates a financial surplus, which we invest back into the house. This helps us keep prices low, welcome more people, and ensure great facilities for the benefit of the city.
