Location: Tietgensgade 65, 1704 Copenhagen
How do you handle love, powerlessness and everyday logistics, when you're the caregiver to a loved one is struggling?
Every tenth person in Denmark spends 10 hours or more per week on caregiving tasks concerning a relative, and the vast majority experience that it affects both their working life and their own health and well-being.
Almost half of all adult Danes have experienced being caregiver to a relative - and many of those, several times during their lives.
In this talk, Maria Månson shares both her own experiences and perspectives from conversations with others based on her podcast "Your Hand in Mine".
During the talk these questions will be answered:
What does it mean to be close to a person who is struggling?
How do you take care of yourself when the role can take up so much of your time and energy?
What do you do with the forbidden feelings that may arise along the way?
The lecture will be followed by a facilitated conversation with the audience, where there is room for reflection, questions and exchange of experiences in a safe space.
The lecture is aimed at anyone who wants insight and concrete steps to understand and navigate the often overlooked and demanding role of being a caregiver to a relative.
