Art Festival – Tender Cuts

From 24.10 – 24.11, the first Tender Cuts art festival will take place in Den Brune Kødby, focusing on art in public spaces and life in the area.

The festival invites you to a month of art, conversations, and experiences in Den Brune Kødby. Through a dynamic program of performances, outdoor site-specific works, exhibitions, talks, guided tours, and workshops, the audience can explore the many stories and atmospheres of the area.

With Den Brune Kødby as its focal point, the festival explores the district as a place of transit, celebration, and belonging—a space where people meet, pass through, and find their own communities.

In 3 parts, the festival examines which communities have a place in Den Brune Kødby

1. Live Program 

   The festival opens and closes with talks by local participants, including The Red Van and

   Antidote, guided tours by Abattoir, and performances by, among others, the Danish/Norwegian

   duo S&M and Nicolai Risbjerg.

2. Indoor Works

   Exhibitions are held at ODP3, Kvægtorvets Pumpehus, and in the windows of Staldgade. Billie

   Meiniche transforms ODP3 into a distorted waiting room, exploring

   expectations of bodies in public spaces. Video works by Tara

   White are also shown here. In White’s When Does Critique Become Content questions about

   belonging unfold, based on a TV clip with an Iranian-British TV host.

3. Site-Specific Works 

   Outdoors, works enter into dialogue with architecture and everyday life. During the festival,

   they are influenced by changing weather and the potential transformation through interaction with

   the public. At the exhibition space RATbox, works are scaled down to rat size, and in

   other corners of Kødbyen, Mikkel Carlsen's and Laura Hjort’s small

   artworks examine the potential for power in the unassuming

The festival is a collaboration between Scenekultur Vesterbro, DGI Byen, Fotografisk Center, RATbox, and Abattoir. Abattoir is a nomadic platform run by 7 artists with studios in Den Brune Kødby. Featuring works by 20 Danish and international artists, Abattoir curates a program with performances, talks, guided tours, indoor and outdoor works in Kødbyen.
