Øksnehallen contributes to so much more
Historic surroundings – future purpose
When your company chooses Øksnehallen for meetings, conferences or events, you become an active part of DGI Byen's mission: strengthening the well-being, health and sense of community for vulnerable Copenhageners.
Every event generates a surplus that goes directly to new activity and well-being programmes for children, young people, and those at risk in Copenhagen. In other words: when you fill Øksnehallen with life, you also set the city in motion – physically, mentally and socially.
Below, you can see a selection of DGI Byen’s many events and activities over the years that have brought meaning, insight and togetherness around important themes.

Sygt Stærke Drømme - DGI Byen supports young voices
The surplus from activities in Øksnehallen helps make meaningful initiatives possible throughout DGI Byen
– for example, Sygt Stærke Drømme
Sygt Stærke Drømme portrays 12 young people with severe or chronic physical illness from SygtStærk, who share their future dreams in words, images and sound. Dreams have no limits – unfortunately, the system does sometimes. That’s what we can and must improve!
Therefore, we are delighted to have contributed to making Sygt Stærke Drømme possible to exhibit here in DGI Byen, where together with SygtStærk we also celebrated the opening with a moving and powerful vernissage. An evening filled with voices, courage and hope – in a house all about community, movement and opportunity.
OMBOLD tournamentsFootball for people experiencing homelessness and marginalization
OMBOLD is a football and sports community for adults (18+) in vulnerable positions. At DGI Byen and OMBOLD, we share a common vision: to create communities that strengthen both body and mind. That’s why we are pleased to host this year’s OMBOLD Christmas Tournament and a summer tournament in 2024 – two days where football, community, and good company go hand in hand.

A healthy association life with support from DGI Byen
DGI Byen exists to strengthen communities, movement and well-being. That is why part of the surplus from activities in Øksnehallen is reinvested to improve the facilities for the roughly 65 institutions and sports associations under the City of Copenhagen that call DGI Byen home.

Meaningful experiences
DGI Byen sets the stage for a wide range of cultural and health-focused events – both our own and those created by passionate enthusiasts and external organizers.
When Øksnehallen is buzzing with life, it's an experience not only for the participants – it also generates a financial surplus that we reinvest back into the venue. This allows us to keep prices down, open the doors to more people, and ensure excellent facilities for the benefit of the city.
